Rotary Club of Sherwood Sunrisers Charter Saturday 28th January
This was held at the County Hall, West Bridgford. The sat nav let us down but we still managed to get there in time and be welcomed by President Irene. Another well attended charter with musical entertainment provided by David Somers and Caroline Budden (two very talented young people). Met the Sheriff of Nottingham
"Who wants to be a Millionaire" evening hosted by President of Ripley Owen Briggs
Got talked into forming a team of four for this regular event hosted by Owen at Lumb Farm. Lorraine and I with two friends formed the team and whilst we did not win we did take part in the 'tie'break'. This events raises funds for International Projects.
Rotary Club of Derby South Charter Tuesday 24th January
Held at the Marquee at the Derbyshire County Cricket ground. An excellent Charter venue with good food and good company. The guest Speaker was Alex Trelenski who is a past member of the Club who has been living in Spain since 2008.

Rotary Club of Wirksworth Annual Dinner and Dance Saturday 21st January
Held at Matlock Golf Club where Lorraine and I had a very enjoyable evening with club members, friends and visiting Rotarians from other clubs. No official duties for me.
Visit to Nottingham Rotaract Thursday 19th January
Meet with Steve Moore prior to the meeting to discuss the potentiasl growth and both Rotaract and Intereact in the District. Then joined the rest of the members for a social night.
Informal Visit to the Rotary Club of Hope Valley Wednesday 18th January
Lorraine and I visited the club but missed the steak pie (we were a week too late). However it was a good evening, good food and the speakers were Keith and Jane Jones and Chris and Lesley Kraushaar on their visit to India on a Friendship Exchange.
Visit to the Rotary Club of Dronfield Tuesday 17th January
Accompanied by Rtn Norman Laud, Vice President Michael made us welcome in the absence of President Andy who is still in Australia. The club organise the very successful Fishtail Project and it was good to be updated on their progress.

Rotary Club of Bingham Charter Sunday 15th January
Lorraine and I atttended the 37th Charter of the Rotary Club of Bingham at the Yeung Sing Restaurant in Bingham. This is owned by Bingham member Tommy Cheung. We had a very nice Chinese meal and were entertained by Bill Woollands. Picture show President Robert and is wife Ruth.

Visit to the Rotary Club of Beeston Monday 9th January
Assistant Governor Noel Harrison joined me for the meeting which was chaired by President Simon.
District Council Meeting 4th January.
This was again at the Novotel. A good turn out by clubs with the opportunity for members to hear of the proposed changes taking place at RIBI. More information available at the next Council meeting prior to the vote at the Bournemouth Conference.
Alfreton Rotary Club New Year Message 1st January 2012
Lorraine and I always attend this annual event at The Cottage at Blackwell. After a good meal the speaker was Rev. Mike Redshaw from the Rotary Club of West Ashfield.
Ho-Ho-Ho-ing at Matlock Co-op and Club Christmas Dinner
The Santa suit was on again for various sessions during the week, collecting for the Rotary Club of Wirksworth. The Elvis look a like is the Manager of the Co-op in Matlock.
On Thursday 22nd December it was the Club's Christmas Dinner with partners and friends at the Waltham House Restaurant. Two of our grandchildren who were staying with us joined the the fun.

Inner Wheel and Rotary Carol Service Sunday 18th December
This was held at St Martin's Church in Alfreton. This had been organised by District Chairman Sue Curley and her Executive Committee, and led by Rev. Frank Mercurio. The Inner Wheel choir led the carol singing. After the service drinks and mince pies were served. It was nice to see the church full for the service.
District Exec Meeting Wednesday 14th December
Held at the Novotel, Sandiacre. The meeting was well attended and the proposed changes to RIBI were discussed prior to the Council Meeting.
